This pretty awesome picture comes to you courtesy of Audi’s Technical Development experts, and the so called ‘glass engine.’
Measurement engineer Guido Grosse starts the test program in the pressure chamber. There’s a hissing sound as the injector in the steel ball with the round windows made from hardened quartz glass slides forward and clicks into place. Suddenly, bright flashes dart through the room, throwing long shadows and bizarre patterns onto the walls. “With every flash, the injector sprays a tiny quantity of fuel into the pressure chamber. We are using a special camera to scan the spray…

The history of the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer Porsche begins in 1948 with the “Type 356”, the first sports car to bear the Porsche name, but the history behind the Porsche brand goes back much further in time. Ferdinand Porsche, a pioneer in the field of automotive construction, began working on the construction of motor vehicles as early as the end of the 19th century. As the chief designer at leading manufacturers Lohner, Austro-Daimler, Daimler-Benz and Steyr, Ferdinand Porsche was able to draw on over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry when he founded his own company in…
Audi of America has released the full 60-second version of its Big Game spot on the brand’s YouTube channel. Featuring the all-new Audi A3, the spot, called “Doberhuahua,” is a comical take on how when people compromise, things go terribly wrong. The spot will air on February 2 during the first in-game break after the 3rd quarter kickoff, in the final position of the advertising break.
“Unlike other entry-level luxury sedans, the Audi A3 family breaks the boundaries and raises the bar as to what is expected out of entry-level luxury vehicles. The Audi A3 doesn’t compromise on…
Porsche is known for technical innovation married to pure driving performance, and they've combined the two yet again with the 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S. Ever since they were revealed at the North American International Auto Show earlier this month, everyone has been talking about the amazing way the hardtop turns into a convertible. To stow the roof behind the back seats, the system lifts away the wraparound rear window. The sides of the roof bar slide inward to let the roof move back. Once it's stowed, the glass is popped back into place.
Sporty, compact and versatile: It is with these attributes that the Audi allroad shooting brake makes its debut at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The two-door car is a crossover and so it is not limited to paved roads. Its high level of functionality makes it ideal for recreational sports. Its hybrid drive, which is as powerful as it is efficient, makes a new form of quattro drive possible – the e-tronquattro.
The Audi allroad shooting brake represents the first time that Audi has combined the allroad and e-tron form languages. As on every Audi, the…
